AIDs Statistics from the CDC 2006

Persons Living with AIDS in 2006

- The CDC study in 2006 accurately estimated the number of people currently living with an AIDS infection to be 448,871 in the U.S.

- The statistics of people infected in the District of Columbia and the United States estimated 432,915 adults and adolescents have the STD AIDS.

- The number estimated for children years 13 and under is 3,775.

- Usually STD statistics are graphed and broken down by reported cases in the regions targeted. They readjusted previous reported numbers from previous years.

Why estimate the numbers in this way you may ask?
- There are a number of reasons for this, but the two main reasons are reporting delays, and redistribution of cases in people who do not know that they are std infected, because they are not yet experiences any symptoms or at least so they think at the time.

How numbers are estimated:
The estimated totals account for people whose race is unknown, has multiple ethnicities or race, unknown sex of individual, and if information about state in which they are a resident of.

- 14,627 is the estimated number of deaths because of AIDS in the year 2006 in the United States and dependent areas.

- The District of Columbia and in the 50 states were 13,968 adult and adolescents cases and 48 cases of children under the age of 13.

- The 50 states and the District of Columbia, this included a total of 540,436 adults and adolescents.

Included in these numbers are unknown race or multiple race, unknown sex of person, and people whose residency is unknown.

Syphilis Statistics

Syphilis Statistics in History

- For thousands of years Syphilis has effected the human race, and is THRIVING in our day and age.

Trends in Syphilis Statistics

- From 1990 to 2000 Syphilis primary and secondary types have decreased by an astonishing 90%! Unfortunately in the year 2000 that number jumped from about 6,000 to about 7,500 in the following four years (2004).

2002 Syphilis Statistics

- The year 2002 has a reported 32,000 cases of syphilis, keep in mind these are just the REPORTED number of cases. The number of primary and secondary cases topped about 6,800. Statistics have shown that HALF of ALL the reported cases came from a total of 16 countries. The facts also pointed out that the majority of reported cases were of people between the ages of 20 and 39.

- A 12.4% INCREASE in reported cases took place between the years 2001 and 2002. The majority of the cases reported took place in male’s, while the female rate kept decreasing. The estimated ratio of male to female cases was expected to be 3.5 men to 1 one female whom was infected.

Syphilis Statistics on Age and Gender

- Women ages 20 – 24 were MOST prone to having the disease, while men statistics pointed at those ages 35 – 39. In the year 2001 there happened to be a reported 492 new cases of Syphilis, which is a greater number than that of the year 2002, in which there were a reported number of 412 cases total.

Syphilis Statistics on Men Having Sex With Men

-The past 7 years have shown this, that syphilis is increasing primarily due to men having sex with other men, primarily in cities known for homosexuality, such as San Francisco, Miami, Seattle, and Chicago, but not limited to those cities. A link between HIV / AIDS infection and syphilis is a theory of many, but has not yet been proved. The theory is that genital sores caused by syphilis to greatly enhance transmission of the HIV infection, which is a VERY SERIOUS MATTER!

STD Medical Treatment Video Review: This video exposes statistics that scare many, and rightfully should! It does a great job of getting the public aware and it is a great thing. More video’s of this kind should be played on television more often, rather than videos exposing women’s bodies that create many problems in American youth today.
