BV Symptoms


• In most cases, Bacterial Vaginosis cause no symptoms or complications.


Some of the serious BV risks include:


• An increase in a woman’s susceptibility to the HIV infection if exposed
to the HIV virus in women that have BV

• Having Bacterial Vaginosis increases the chances that HIV-infected women pass the HIV
virus to their sexual partners.

• Having BV has been associated with an increase in the development of an
infection following surgical procedures such as a hysterectomy or an
abortion.

• Increased risk for some complications in pregnancy, such as preterm
delivery puts women having Bacterial Vaginosis while pregnant at risk.

• Women’s susceptibility to other STDs can be increased by BV, such as:
Chlamydia, Herpes simplex virus (HSV), and even gonorrhea
