- The number estimated for children years 13 and under is 3,775.
- Usually STD statistics are graphed and broken down by reported cases in the regions targeted. They readjusted previous reported numbers from previous years.
Why estimate the numbers in this way you may ask?
- There are a number of reasons for this, but the two main reasons are reporting delays, and redistribution of cases in people who do not know that they are std infected, because they are not yet experiences any symptoms or at least so they think at the time.
How numbers are estimated: The estimated totals account for people whose race is unknown, has multiple ethnicities or race, unknown sex of individual, and if information about state in which they are a resident of.
Deaths of Persons with AIDS in 2006
- 14,627 is the estimated number of deaths because of AIDS in the year 2006 in the United States and dependent areas.
- The District of Columbia and in the 50 states were 13,968 adult and adolescents cases and 48 cases of children under the age of 13.

- The estimated number for children under 13 was 5,369 deaths.
Included in these numbers are unknown race or multiple race, unknown sex of person, and people whose residency is unknown.
- The disease Gonorrhea is a very common disease infection, with very serious symptoms and health risks. The center for disease control and prevention say that every year it is expect that over 700,000 persons will contract the disease.
- It is estimated that there are about 400,000 cases in which persons are undiagnosed with an infection. In the united states it is estimated that 1 in 679 people in fact are infected with the disease and do NOT know they have it.
- The ratio of uninfected people to the infected is estimated to be about 1 infected person to every 800,000 people.
- The health costs of this sexually transmitted disease are an estimated $1.1 billion annually, disease complications included, according to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
Infection Rates Since 1975
1975-1997 : During these twenty-two years the growth rate began decreasing, not significantly, but enough to be acknowledged. The reason for this drop was a direct result of the national gonorrhea control program that was put into effect in 1974. The program consisted of treatment options, medical attention, awareness campaigns, mental therapy for the infected, and much more. The program has been effective to a small degree, there is a LONG way left to go.
1998 : There was a slight increase in disease growth in the year `98. Thankfully, the increase was not significantly destructive to overall disease progress.
2001 : The Public Health Leadership Society (PHLS) announced that in the year 2001 there were 15,903 new cases in the countries Wales and England.
2002 : The ratio of disease infected people to non disease infected was about 125:100,000. The CDC announced a reported 650,000 new cases annually in America each year. In Australia there were a reported 6,247 new cases of infections during this year.
2006 : United States had a reported 358,300 cases of gonorrhea during this year. In the United States about 50% cases reported occurred in only 68 counties or independent cities! The reported rate that occurred in women was 124.3 per 100,000 people, while in men the rate was 116.8 cases per 100,000. Young adults ages 20 to 24 had an astonishing rate of 527 per 100,000! That rate is more than four times the national gonorrhea rate!
1999-2009 (Present) : From 99 to the present day the national rate decreased a small percentage in reported cases.
What do these statistics mean?
These numbers shows significant progress of the national gonorrhea control program. The ratio of infected to non infected had been much greater in the past few decades, so something is being done correctly and working!
Be most cautious in sexual activity those ages 20-24, and especially while in other countries!
The ratio of infected to non infected had been much greater in past years, something is being done correctly!
These number of success give hope of one-day completely eliminating the disease from our society. (Unfortunately that goal and dream will not be reached for some hundreds of years.)
MOST IMPORTANTLY Gonorrhea is still very active in our world and actions MUST be put into effect to prevent further transmission of this disease!
Highest Rates of Infections in the United States * 75% of reported cases are found in people ages 15-29. * The highest rates of infections in women occur between the ages 15 and 19. * The highest rates of infections found in men occur between the ages 20 and 24. * Women are currently lead in highest infection rates verses infection rates in men, and have been since 1996. Before 1996 men had led in highest rates for many years.
* Generally, sexually active African Americans, teenagers, and young adults have the highest rates of transmission! Be very careful when you are being sexually active, if you don’t you may regret it for the rest of you life.
EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TRANSMISSION FACT * Most people do not know that simply by TOUCHING an infected sexual body part you can receive an infection, by touching your eyes afterward!

- For thousands of years Syphilis has effected the human race, and is THRIVING in our day and age.
Trends in Syphilis Statistics
- From 1990 to 2000 Syphilis primary and secondary types have decreased by an astonishing 90%! Unfortunately in the year 2000 that number jumped from about 6,000 to about 7,500 in the following four years (2004).
2002 Syphilis Statistics
- The year 2002 has a reported 32,000 cases of syphilis, keep in mind these are just the REPORTED number of cases. The number of primary and secondary cases topped about 6,800. Statistics have shown that HALF of ALL the reported cases came from a total of 16 countries. The facts also pointed out that the majority of reported cases were of people between the ages of 20 and 39.
- A 12.4% INCREASE in reported cases took place between the years 2001 and 2002. The majority of the cases reported took place in male’s, while the female rate kept decreasing. The estimated ratio of male to female cases was expected to be 3.5 men to 1 one female whom was infected.
Syphilis Statistics on Age and Gender
- Women ages 20 – 24 were MOST prone to having the disease, while men statistics pointed at those ages 35 – 39. In the year 2001 there happened to be a reported 492 new cases of Syphilis, which is a greater number than that of the year 2002, in which there were a reported number of 412 cases total.
Syphilis Statistics on Men Having Sex With Men
-The past 7 years have shown this, that syphilis is increasing primarily due to men having sex with other men, primarily in cities known for homosexuality, such as San Francisco, Miami, Seattle, and Chicago, but not limited to those cities. A link between HIV / AIDS infection and syphilis is a theory of many, but has not yet been proved. The theory is that genital sores caused by syphilis to greatly enhance transmission of the HIV infection, which is a VERY SERIOUS MATTER!

STD Medical Treatment Video Review: This video exposes statistics that scare many, and rightfully should! It does a great job of getting the public aware and it is a great thing. More video’s of this kind should be played on television more often, rather than videos exposing women’s bodies that create many problems in American youth today.
